OLD TESTAMENT FOR LAY PREACHERS & DEACONS

The course is a tailor-made course for Lay Preachers and Deacons who have aspirations to understand the Old Testament. With the help of specific readings, class discussion and class presentations, an overview of the Old Testament as scripture will emerge. Developing the theological issues out of the historical, socio-political context of the Jewish people (also known as ‘Hebrews’ and as ‘Children of Israel’) including sources and dates of the material, and includes time-lines covering the historical periods.

INTRODUCTION TO ETHICS

Sept. 17 - Oct. 1 | Th. | 6pm - 8pm | $99

Introduction to Ethics is concerned with providing an overview and application of fundamental ethical frameworks, development of a personal ethical framework, 21st-century social, ethical issues. It is covering the history of ethics as a discipline to assess the variables that constitute personal ethical templates through the application of those templates to 21st-century ethical issues.

INTRODUCTION TO THEOLOGY

Oct. 15 - Oct. 29 | Th. | 6pm - 8pm | $99

Introduction to Theology introduces the fundamental doctrines of Christian faith through a systematic process of teaching scriptures with references to disciplines of theology, striving to teach theological content and methods. The act of ‘faith-thinking’ aims to assist in cultivating the life-long virtue of obedience to the word of God.

INTRODUCTION TO SPIRITUAL FORMATION

Nov. 12 - Nov. 26 | Th. | 6pm - 8pm | $99

This course will explore the process and goal of spiritual formation in the life of the Christian. Students will be introduced to the historic disciplines and practices of the Christian faith that promote intimacy with God and Christlikeness in character with the goal of fostering ongoing personal spiritual growth. Key lesson topics include: What is Spiritual Formation, Patterns and Processes of Formation (Prayer and Detachment, Word Based Disciplines & Communal Formation) and Developing a Rule of Life.
